Day Two:)

Brad, Michelle, Dad and Mum Evans piddled in their bed this morning and were up VERY early!!!!!
We were packed up, breakfasted, and on the road at 8:21!!!!
Our first stop was at the Lion's Den Hotel

The iconic Lion's Den Hotel........

The local Lion........

And a Giraffe???......

A cannon ball tree???? (Tyler P said so).........

Funny sign.........;)

Our next stop was at a place called Black Mountain - which funnily enough was Black!!! It gets it's black colour from the fungus that grows over it - they are originally grey.

Black Mountain......

Close up of the rock.......

A tree with lots of Green Ants nests in it........

From there we continued on to a place called Trevathan Falls. It was down a bumpy, winding, sometimes muddy road, but it was worth it! We went to the half way point first where i found some funky tree trunks.

Creepy hey???.....:)

The walk up to the falls was very steep but still worth it! We were wishing that it was hotter because it was absolutely beautiful, and very inviting!!!!

Beautiful waterfall.........

The pool at the bottom......

While we were there we also found a wasp nest, or should I say, Dad E and Cameron found a wasp nest by getting stung! Haha I don't think I've seen them move so fast before!!!

Wasp nest.......

Next stop was Archer Point, we drove to the end and went exploring. The cars are starting to look a little camouflaged, I think they are try to blend in!

Very dusty cars..........

A trail of red leaves..........

An island off the coast......

Old jetty - yes it's a little boring.......

A lighthouse at the top of the hill......
As we were taking photo's off the top of this hill, a helicopter flew past and indicated (waving arms around - we thought he was waving lol) that he wanted to land there. So we moved the cars and he landed:) very exciting!

He was waving his arms trying to communicate that he wanted to land - we waved back every time haha :)

Landing right where we were parked.....

And it down!!..... The kids (big and small) were stoked!!!!!

We tried one more track and came across a fantastic camping spot!!! Even. Though it was only 12:30, we decided to stop for the day and make the most of a great spot!

The view from our tent..... Tough hey?

Our little camp spot..... In among the trees......

On the beach there were thousands and thousands of bubbler crabs........

My own footprints photo.....(footprints is one of my favorite poems)

I stood still on the beach for AGES trying to get a photo of one of a bubbler crab in action........ But I got it!!! And they're BLUE!!!!! It took me a long time and I only got to see two.

This is what happy hour looks like on holidays........dreadful time!!!! Haha

Kade and Aidyn 'staying dry' lol NOT!!!

You know how I only could get a photo of only two bubbler crabs? This is Kade and Aidyn's effort in half an hour (at night)!!!!

The boys are in their element!!!!

Anyway it's campfire time.......so that's all for today:)

Our first day on our Cape York trip:)

We were on the road at 8:15, we drove from Cairns to the Daintree River along the Captain Cook Hwy.
At the Daintree we had to cross using a car ferry, which is a first for the kids and I.

Waiting to get on the ferry.......

The ferry load before ours............

Driving onto the ferry.......

View in front of us........

And behind........

Leaving the ferry......

Lookout on Mount Alexandra......

From the lookout also........

The three amigo's........

We stopped at Cape Tribulation for lunch, and went for a walk along the beach. The kids were happy to have sand under their feet again.

Cape Tribulation.......

The sand was quite white, even though it doesn't look like it......

A little bubbler crab has been here......

A very creative crab.......

The girls were 'ere........

We continued on our journey which included lots of creek crossings, and very steep hills.....

Lots of peaceful creeks,

The Bloomfield River crossing...... We were spewing that there was no water over the bridge:(

The three chips off the same block inspecting the river........

We went to the Bloomfield Falls for a photo or fifty......

The Bloomfield Falls.......

And again......

And again.......
We found a great little campsite down a track, (by 4 o'clockish) off the side of the road and set up camp.

Thats all from us today:)
