An awesome spider web that caught the sunshine while we had breakfast.......
Our first port of call was Cooktown!
Steve looks more like his Mum then I thought.......
There was a musical ship in town.......
And the token cannon.......every town seems to have one......
The story goes that the town sent a 'wire' to the town of Brisbane in 1885 to ask for arms, ammunition and a competent officer to take charge of them, because they were left unprotected from the threat of Russian invasion. They sent a whole 3 cannonballs, a cannon, 2 rifles and 1 officer! Wahoo!!! Don't go over board!!! Lol

Captain Cook ran his ship aground on the Barrier Reef in 1770 hence the name 'Cooktown' he (and Joseph Banks) stood on top of Grassy Hill and surveyed the predicament that they were in, because they were run aground on the reef and there were lots of sand bars, so they didn't know how they were going to get out........

The last lighthouse keeper died in 1918, he was only 58 years old and was survived by his wife and seven children......

We stopped for lunch at Isabella Falls.......
From there we moved on to Lakefield National Park - our first stop was at Lake Emma - which is a day area - no camping.
Lake Emma had a large number of Water Lilly's on the water..... They were beautiful.....

It was a very big temptation for the boys to play near the water after coming from a beach yesterday......so we had to keep a close eye on them....

So how many water crossings have you done so far? Are you keeping track?
