Freeze your NARNA'S off!!!!!

Camped at Lake Gillies, it was a beautiful spot buuuuuuttttt....... It WAS FREEZING!!!!!!!
Here's a picture of us eating our dinner in the camper, where it was very slightly warmer.....



Do we look cold? We were!!!!

As we were sitting around the fire with marshmallows, the night was getting colder and colder.... I think that was the coldest night we have had so far!
We all went to bed fully clothed : socks, trackies, three t-shirts, hoodie, and beanie, with hot water bottles, under a feather quilt, and we were STILL COLD!!!
After a night of not much sleep, we awoke to a frozen world.... Normally every morning, if it's cold at night, there is water droplets on the roof above our heads (condensation from our breathing), well this morning it was all frozen!
Once we went outside the camper - the roof rack on the car was totally frozen over....


White stuff on racksack is ice, window frozen over and drips under the rearveiw mirrors frozen solid!

Going to the toilet when it's that cold is NOT FUN!!! Lol. "all part of the adventure" I'm told... (by someone who doesn't have to pull their pants down all the way to go to the loo) haha

When Ambient temp is below zero... You know it's cold! We forgot to check what the lowest recorded temp was.

Even the plants were frozen....







Ok enough about being cold..... (hang on, one more thing.......haha we didn't get on the road til 10 am, because it was soooo cold, our fingers would work to pack anything up!) ok I'm done now;)
We went onto to a place called Iron Knob, where funnily enough, they used to mine iron ore!
It's not functioning as a mine any more but the township is still there, including a really cool information centre. It was full of all different kinds of rocks, including rare and precious ones which were beautiful.
Outside they had lots of old machinery, which little boys (and not so little boys) find interesting.

From there we went to Port Augusta, where we did some shopping - we bought flannelette shirts for Shana, Mum E and Myself..... Very trendy we are...... Hey at least we're warm!!


and had some lunch, we were so busy shopping etc that between 3 cameras in our car, we have 6 photos! Pitty that they're all of the same bridge!!! So here's one of the bridges in Port Augusta....

It is a nice place, and I am very spewing that I forgot to take photos:(
From there we went on to find a campsite for the night...
This took us over the Flinders Ranges,


Named after Matthew Flinders, on his 1801-1802 voyage, they stretch over 430kms and the highest peak is 1170 mtrs high.
When we drove over them on the Princes Highway, we recorded a figure in the 500's ( sorry can't remember the exact number) so we were nearly half way up!








Absolutely beautiful!!
From there we found a campsite for the night, just out of a little town called Orroroo.
